Team India captain Rohit Sharma reckons that the failure of experienced batters in the side to rise to the challenge cost them the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia at The Oval. Rohit opined that since the batters have experience of playing in England, they were expected to deliver, but added that the one-off game offers a different challenge.

India will need to chase down a record total of 444 on Day 5 of the World Test Championship (WTC) final to be crowned world Test champions. They ended Day 4 at The Oval on 164/3, with Virat Kohli unbeaten on 44 and Ajinkya Rahane on 20. The highest ever chase at The Oval is 263, which was recorded way back to 1902.

Travis Head smashed 146 not out off only 156 balls, while Steven Smith scored a defiant 95 not out off 227 balls as Australia dominated Day 1 of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final 2023 against India on Wednesday, June 7. Sent into bat after losing the toss, Australia went to stumps at 327/3 after 85 overs.
