New Delhi: India registered their first ever victory against South Africa at Wanderers on Saturday when they beat the hosts in a nail biting encounter to level the five-match series 1-1. It took 19 years for the Indian team to win a match at the ground.
Out of seven matches India had played at Wanderers, they had won three and lost as many matches while one was abandoned due to rain.
India played their first match at the ground in 1992 which the hosts won by 6 wickets. The story was repeated again in 2001 when South Africa thrashed India by as many wickets.
However, the most disappointing performance by India at the stadium came in 2003 World cup final which they lost by 125 runs.
