South Africa have been asked to bat first at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown by minnows Afghanistan.

Afghanistan Innings

South Africa won their Group C match against Afghanistan by 59 runs and enter into the Super Eights. The pace and bounce in the Kensington Oval pitch was tailor-made for the South Africans and the inexperienced Afghan batsmen fell prey to them. On the brighter side were some mind boggling sixes by their batsmen to atleast take them to a better looking 80 all out!

Morne Morkel picked up four cheap wickets by just landing the ball on the short of length areas and getting it to hit the splice of the bat or the gloves of the amateurish Afghan batsmen! Charl Langeveldt helped himself with three scalps and Steyn who was unplayable got two. Just the three Afghan batsmen got into double figures! the highlight of the innings was a stunning six hit by no.9 Mirwais Ashraf off Albie Morkel that cleared the stadium roof over long on!

South Africa Innings

South Africa have been restricted to 139 for 7 after being put to bat first by Afghanistan on a spicy wicket. It was a terrific bowling show from the new minnows of world cricket and SA would feel that they have to managed to score enough runs to feel secured. Graeme Smith led the way with a 14-ball 27, Kallis spent time in the middle with a 33-ball 34 while JP Duminy and Albie Morkel provided the finishing touches with their 20s.

At one point of time, Afghanistan had SA pegged back at 90 for 5 in the 15th over. A couple of bowlers were too impressive or rather promising for the future. Mohammad Nabi, the off spinner showed good variations while Hamid Hassan who picked up 3 for 21 is exciting with his aggressive fast bowling clocking around 140 kmph consistently.
