India opener GautamGambhir suffered a bruised elbow after being hit on the left arm by a full-blooded sweep off Matt Prior while fielding during England's second innings of the fourth day of the first Test at the Lord's on Sunday.

Gambhir was fielding at short-leg when he was struck by the ball off the bowling of Harbhajan Singh in the 55th over of the England second innings. The opener was rushed to hospital for an X-ray examination, which revealed a bruise.

This is the third casualty for India in the first four days of the Lord's Test.

PacemanZaheer Khan pulled his hamstring on the first day after bowling just 13.3 overs in England first innings and picking two wickets. He did not take the field nor bowl a single over in England's second innings.

SachinTendulkar was also absent for the first two sessions on Sunday with a viral infection and he took the field only at the final session.

Because of his long absence from the field, he will not be able to bat in his usual number four slot. He will bat at only number seven, that is after the fall of the fifth wicket.

On Sunday, he batted with a running fever in India's first innings and left the ground for team hotel soon after he was out for 34. It was learnt that he took antibiotics because of the viral infection.
