Former India opener Kris Srikkanth has stated that current Indian limited overs opener Rohit Sharma is undoubtedly among the top five opening batsmen of all time.

Rohit had a stellar 2019 in which he scored a record five centuries in the World Cup. In addition, he also slammed three Test centuries, including a double hundred, in his new role as Test opener.

“He is definitely, probably is in the top three or five all-time greatest openers as far as one-day cricket is concerned,” Srikkanth was quoted as saying on the Cricket Connected Show on Star Sports.

"I think I would rate him as one of the greatest all-time one-day openers in world cricket. What’s the greatest quality in Rohit Sharma is that he goes for these big hundreds and double hundreds, that is something amazing. In a one-day cricket match, you will go 150, 180, 200, just imagine where you are going to take the team to, that’s the greatness about Rohit Sharma," the former selector added.

Rohit has achieved some incredible feats in his limited-overs career. He was named the ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year 2019 for being the leading run-scorer with 1,490 runs.

While opening the innings, Rohit has hit over 7,000 runs at an average of over 58 with 27 hundreds. He is the only ODI cricketer with three one-day double tons. Rohit also holds the record for the most T20I hundreds -- four. He is also the quickest to 7,000 one-day runs as opener.
