New Delhi: Eleven days after the auctioneer brought down the hammer for the last time at players auction of IPL-4, there is finally a glimpse of hope for Prince of Kolkata, Sourav Ganguly who was earlier snubbed by all the ten franchisees.

According to the CNN-IBN sources, IPL Kochi has approached the IPL Governing Council to allow them to sign the former India captain Sourav Ganguly for IPL 4. Team Kochi will be making their IPL debut in this mega even which begins on April 8.

IPL Governing Council has shown their surprise by Kochi's late intent but it won't be that easy for them to go ahead and purchase Sourav Ganguly. They can do so only if the other nine franchises raise no objection to this out-of-auction deal.

Sources also told CNN-IBN that Governing Council is likely to bend its rules to approve Kochi request but seeing that Kochi is making their debut this season they can also give them green light to go ahead and buy their man if they get NOC from other teams.

If the Kochi deal works out, Sourav can look forward to joining forces with his old KKR mates Brendon McCullum, Brad Hodge and Owais Shah.
