Former Gujarat policeman Sanjiv Bhatt posted a controversial comment on social media relays to Muslim players in Indian cricket team

Former Gujarat policeman Sanjiv Bhatt posted a controversial comment on social media relays to Muslim players in Indian cricket team.

“In the present time, is there any Muslim player in the Indian cricket team? Since independence, how many times has it happened that there are no Muslim players in the Indian team? Have Muslims stopped playing cricket?,” Bhatt said in a post put up in Hindi.

The comment certainly wasn’t well received, and even former India bowler Harbhajan Singh gave him a perfect response. He said irrespective of their religion, whoever plays for the country is an Indian first, and so there should be no discussion on his caste or colour.

Incidentally, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj have been named in the Test series against Sri Lanka and the three-match T20I series against New Zealand respectively.
