Top 5 batsmen

Suresh Raina: He has undoubtedly been the star performer for Chennai Super Kings, outdoing many of his illustrious teammates. In 81 games thus far, the left-hander has made 2254 runs at an excellent strike rate touching 140. Raina’s runs have featured 14 fifties while even his average has been impressive at 33.64. The southpaw is yet to score a century in the event, his highest being 98.

Gautam Gambhir: The Kolkata Knight Riders skipper, who earlier played for Delhi Daredevils, was in excellent form last season, a key reason why he has jumped on to the number two position among the top run makers. Having played 72 IPL matches, the left-hander has scored 2065 runs at a strike rate of 129. Gambhir’s runs have included 16 fifties, with his average being rather similar to that of Raina’s, 33.30. His highest score in the league is 93.

Sachin Tendulkar: Like in most other cricket records, the god of batting finds him name in this list as well. Tendulkar is the third most successful batsman in the history of the IPL. He has crossed the 2000 mark having played much fewer matches that the earlier two names. In 64 games, Tendulkar has amassed 2047 runs at a strike rate of 119. He has scored 12 fifties and a hundred in the tournament so far, while averaging nearly 38. Tendulkar’s highest score in the event is 100 not out.

Rohit Sharma: The youngster may not have set the international scene on fire, but has rocked in the IPL. In 78 matches, Sharma has amassed 1975 runs at a strike rate of 129. His consistency can be gauged from the fact that he has 14 fifties and one hundred to his name, averaging 31.34. Sharma’s highest score in the event in 109 not out.

Jacques Kallis: The South African all-rounder, who earlier player for Bangalore and now represents Kolkata, completes the list. In 74 matches, Kallis has scored 1965 runs at a strike rate of 111. He has registered 16 fifties at an average of 30.70. Kallis’ highest score in the tournament has been 89 not out.

Top 5 bowlers

Lasith Malinga: It is least surprising that the slinger is the most successful bowler in the league, for he has been the most efficient of all bowlers. In 56 matches, he has grabbed 83 wickets at average of 16.63 and an economy rate of 6.36. His best figures in the tournament are 5/13.

Amit Mishra: A rather surprise fact. In 59 games, the leggie who has represented Deccan Chargers and Delhi Daredevils, has taken 74 wickets, averaging 20.67 at an economy rate of over 7. His best figures in the event are 5/17.

RP Singh: Another surprise success story of the IPL. In 67 games, Singh has scalped 74 wickets, averaging 25.56 at an economy rate of 7.75. His best figures in the IPL are 4/22.

Piyush Chawla: Another Indian slips in at number four. Having played 71 games, the leggie has picked up 73 wickets, averaging 24.91 with an economy rate of 7.61 Chawla’s best figures in the event are 4/17.

Munaf Patel: The underrated pace bowler is at number five. In 57 matches, Patel has snared 70 victims, averaging 21.48 at an economy rate of 7.37. His best figures in the tournament are 5/21.
