The fourth ODI between India and Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens in Kolkata produce some sensational numbers, with a few records also being broken along the way, most of them by Rohit Sharma, who played an unbelievable knock on the day, smashing the Lankan bowlers into submission. Here is a look at some amazing numbers that the match produced.

During the course of his knock, Rohit Sharma became the first international batsman to score two double hundreds in one-day cricket. Before this he was registered a highest score of 209 against the Australians when the latter had come visiting a year back.

Incredibly, all double hundreds in one-day cricket have been smashed by Indians. Sachin Tendulkar broke the barrier when he made exactly 200 against South Africa back in March 2010. Virender Sehwag overtook the record by registering 219 against the West Indians, before Rohit hit his double ton against the Aussies.

Before Tendulkar’s landmark double hundred, Saeed Anwar’s record of 194 against the Indians stood for 13 years. He had made the score at Chepauk in 1997. The record was equalled by a little-known Zimbabwean, Charles Coventry.

Sharma hit 33 fours during his stay at the crease, which is the most by an batsman in one-dayers. The earlier record was jointly held by Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag, both of whom hit 25 fours during their double century.

Rohit scored 186 runs in fours and sixes, the most by any batsmen in one-day internationals.

During his knock, Rohit also broke the record for the highest individual score by an Indian in first-class one-day cricket. The earlier record was held by Shikhar Dhawan, who smashed 248 for India A against South Africa A at Pretoria a couple of seasons back.

With his splendid knock, Rohit has become the second batsman in first-class one day cricket to hit a 250 plus score. Alastair Brown had smashed 268 for Surrey against Glamorgan in 2002.

Rohit is also the second batsman after Brown to hit two double hundreds. While Brown made both his double hundreds in first class games, Rohit has registered both his double hundreds in international matches, making his feat unique.

Had he faced one more ball, he would have broken the record for most balls faced in a one-dayer, still held by Sunil Gavaskar, who made that embarrassing 36

India made 400 plus again in the match. This was the fifth instance of India crossing the 400 mark in one-dayers. No other team has achieved the feat on so many occasions.

Finally, while Rohit alone made 264 in the match, the entire Sri Lankan side managed 13 runs less.
