They might have been bundled out for an embarrassing 55 in their opening Ranji Trophy match against Vidarbha, but today Haryana put on a respectable show against England XI in the 4-day match at Ahmedabad.
Haryana finished the second day’s play at 172 for 4 in 61 overs in reply to England’s massive total of 521 all out. England had Samit Patel once again scoring runs, this time a 105-ball 67 (with 13 fours). Wicket Keeper Matt Prior was the other batsman to get some practice through a cameo of 41 (from 36 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes). For Haryana, offie Jayant Yadav and leggie Amit Mishra finished with four wickets each.
Tim Bresnan provided an early wicket for the tourists who were later defied by a solid 2nd wicket stand between no.3 Sunny Singh (55 from 74 balls with 11 fours) and opener Rahul Dewan who remained unbeaten on 77 (from 181 balls with 10 fours).
