New Zealand skipper, Brendon McCullum, playing in his final Test, smashed the record for the fastest Test hundred, racing to one in just 54 balls, against New Zealand at Christchurch. Here’s presenting the list of top ten fastest hundreds in Test cricket.

Brendon McCullum: The New Zealand skipper smashed a century from merely 54 balls against Australia at Christchurch on February 20, 2016. McCullum ended up with 145 from 79 balls with 21 fours and 6 sixes at a strike rate of 183.54. He would hope it is enough for his side to give him a winning farewell.

Vivian Richards: The West Indian legend’s 30-year-old record has been finally broken. He blasted a hundred from 56 balls against England at Antigua in 1986. He remained unbeaten on 110 from 58 balls with 7 fours and as many sixes as West Indies thumped England by 240 runs.

Misbah-ul-Haq: Surprise! Surprise! It’s the slow man Misbah who is at joint number two. He smashed a hundred from 56 balls against Australia at Abu Dhabi in October 2014. Misbah made an unbeaten 101 from 57 balls with 11 fours and 5 sixes as Pakistan won the Test by 356 runs.

Adam Gilchrist: No surprises here. Gilly needed 57 balls for a ton against England at Perth in December 2006. He ended up with 102 not out from 59 balls with 12 fours and 4 sixes, at a strike rate of 172.88, as Australia won by 206 runs.

Jack Gregory: Way back in November 1921, Aussie Gregory needed 67 balls for a ton against South Africa at Johannesburg. Gregory ended up with 119 from 85 balls with 19 fours and 2 sixes in a drawn encounter.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul: In rather uncharacteristic fashion, Shiv blasted a ton from 69 balls against a mighty Aussie bowling line-up at Guyana in April 2003. He was out for 100 from 72 balls, hitting 15 fours and 2 sixes. Unfortunately, West Indies went on to lose by nine wickets.

David Warner: The Australian opener also hit a ton from 69 balls against India at Perth in January 2012. Warner ended up with a massive 180 from 159 balls, with 20 fours and 5 sixes. Australia ended up smashing India by an innings and 37 runs.

Chris Gayle: The big-hitting West Indian hit a ton from 70 balls against Australia at Perth in December 2009. Gayle ended up with 102 from 72 with 9 fours and 6 sixes. Australia ended up winning by 35 runs.

Roy Fredericks: The former West Indian opener blasted a hundred from 71 balls against Australia at Perth in December 1975. Fredericks ended up with 169 from 145 balls with 27 fours and a six. West Indies won by an innings and 87 runs.

Majid Khan: The former Pakistan batsman got a hundred from 74 balls at Karachi in November 1976. Majid ended up with 112 from 18 fours and 2 sixes in a drawn match.
