The Board of Cricket for India has made certain changes since the start of the Year. BCCI has created a roadmap for the upcoming ODI World Cup in 2023 which will be hosted in India, during the review meeting with Rahul Dravid (head coach), and Chetan Sharma (chief selector) which took place on 1st January 2023.
Team India head coach Rahul Dravid has admitted that there will be a conversation with wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant over his shot selection. Pant was dismissed for a third-ball duck in the Johannesburg Test, which India went on to lose by seven wickets on Thursday. On day three, Pant gifted his wicket away while trying to slog Kagiso Rabada without getting his eye in.
Team India head coach Rahul Dravid has asserted that Test captain Virat Kohli has remained motivated and committed as ever despite all the controversy surrounding him. Ahead of the South Africa tour, Kohli had contradicted BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, claiming he had not been asked to stay on as T20I captain. Recently, though, Chairman of Selectors Chetan Sharma backed Ganguly and said that all the selectors had requested Kohli to reconsider his decision.
Team India’s head coach Rahul Dravid has heaped praise on Test captain Virat Kohli, terming him as a player who keeps evolving and pushing himself. Kohli will lead India in the three-match Test series, which will begin with the first match at the SuperSport Park in Centurion.
Team India’s head coach Rahul Dravid admitted that the management would like veteran middle-order batter Ajinkya Rahane to score more runs. At the same time, he asserted, like Cheteshwar Pujara at the start of the Kanpur Test, that Rahane is only one match away from finding form again.
Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara has stated that Rahul Dravid coming in as coach of the Indian team will help not only the younger players but senior players like him as well. It is no secret that Pujara has modelled his game on Dravid. In fact, he took over the No. 3 spot in India’s Test team following Dravid’s retirement.
Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has expressed surprised at Rahul Dravid’s decision to take over as the head coach of the Indian team considering that he has a young family. Dravid’s coaching stint with the Indian team began with the first T20I of the three-match series against New Zealand in Jaipur on Wednesday. India won the match by five wickets following a mini-stutter.
Former Australia captain Greg Chappell has claimed that Rahul Dravid, the current head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), picked "Australian brains", replicated the style in India to turn young cricketers into match-winners. Incidentally, Dravid was the captain for most of Chappell's tenure as Indian coach (2005 to 2007). The Aussie legend resigned from his post after India were dumped out of the 2007 World Cup in the first round.
The 2007 T20 World Cup win was a watershed moment in Indian cricket. Not only did it bring Indian cricket glory following the disaster in the 50-over World Cup few months back, but also went a long way in popularising the version of the sport in India. Only a year later, the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) came into being
