Updates of India Vs Sri Lanka, ODI 2 at WACA, Perth (Feb 8), Commonwealth Bank Series 2012

After the World Cup 2011 Final in April, neighbours India and Sri Lanka will meet for the first time in an international match. Tomorrow it will be at the WACA Ground in Perth when India and Sri Lanka clash in the Second Match of the Tri-Series. Its a perfect opportunity for India to clinch a comprehensive victory against a team that may not be entirely acclimatised to the conditions in Australia. It will also be a major reprieve for India as they may not be facing a tough opposition like Australia tomorrow.

Sri Lanka are coming from a tour of South Africa where they had to battle against pace and bounce. It wasn’t a good series there with Sri Lanka once getting bowled out for 43! The Sri Lankan players are not in the best of moods as their Cricket Board is yet to pay them the match fees from the time of the 2011 World Cup! But there could be a refreshing change with a new Captain Mahela Jayawardene in charge of the team. Sri Lanka are without match practice as their game against the Australian Prime Minister’s XI at the Manuka Oval in Canberra was washed out because of rain.
