MS Dhoni silenced all critics with his second match-winning knock in a row to help India clinch a historic maiden ODI series win in Australia. Dhoni was undefeated on 87 while Kedar Jadhav chipped in with a key 61 not out to take India past the finish line in a tense chase.

Dhoni was adjudged man of the series for hat-trick of fifties. At the post-match presentation when asked about his preferred position to bat, he said it did not matter.

"It is not about where you want to bat; I am happy to bat at any number and after playing for 14 years I can't say that I don't want to bat at number six and want to bat at four," Dhoni said during the post-match interview.

Dhoni and Jadhav joined forces after Virat Kohli was dismissed with over 100 needed. And with the run rate rising, Jadhav played some smart shots to keep India in the game.

"It was a slow wicket, so it was a bit difficult to hit whenever you wanted to. It was important to take it to the end because some of their bowlers were on the verge of finishing their quota. No point going after the bowlers who were bowling well," Dhoni said.

"Kedar did a great job in playing unorthodox shots and it is important to hit boundaries," he added.

India now face New Zealand in a five-match ODI series starting on January 23.
