West Indies finished the rain-hit first day of the third and final Test match here at Pallekele on a respectable 134/2 with Darren Bravo registering his third successive fifty of the series.

In all, only 40 overs of play was possible in the day, taking away all the excitement off the game that is labeled as the series decider.

Resuming on 45/1 after the rain break, Bravo and Devon Smith continued to bat the day out with some attractive strokes. Bravo, in particular, was impressive in his choice of strokes. Smith scored 55 runs in exactly 100 balls with seven boundaries. The pair put on 115 runs for the second wicket when Ajantha Mendis had him caught leg before.

Bravo continued to bat in confidence, picking up occasional boundaries and had reached 63 runs at close of play. His innings includes nine hits to the fence. Shivnarine Chanderpaul was batting on 11 runs.

For Sri Lanka, Suranga Lakmal and Ajantha Mendis picked up a wicket each, when bad light forced the umpires to call it the end of the day.
