Virat Kohli scored a whirlwind century (112 ) while Gautam Gambhir too smashed a brilliant 84 to take India home by eight wickets in the second one day international at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium here on Monday to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

Chasing a very-gettable target of 238, India crossed the finishing line without any fuss in 36.4 overs. Gambhir and Kohli also shared an unbroken 209-run stand for the fourth wicket.

Despite losing openers early, the two Delhi batsmen kept England always under the pump and scored at will off all of their bowlers.

The Delhi duo set a new record for the third wicket partnership against England, eclipsing the previous best of 175 between Navjot Singh Siddhu and Mohammad Azharuddin.

This partnership was also the highest third wicket partnership at the Kotla, surpassing the record of Sachin Tendulkar and Azharuddin who had stitched 175 runs.

Kohli took a single off Dernbach to not only notch up his 7th ODI ton but but also record the first century by an Indian at the Kotla in 15 years.

England captain Alastair Cook won the toss and elected to bat in the second one day international against India at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground on Monday.

Both teams go into the match with an unchanged playing eleven from the first match.

By ending their 10-match win-less streak against England in the first one-dayer at Hyderabad, Team India once again exhibited their invincibility at home, to the dismay of the opposition.

The depleted Team India, which is without the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma and Zaheer Khan, will go head to head in the second ODI hoping to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

On the other hand England's bowling and batting was dismal. Apart from Grame Swann, the English bowlers were easily tackled by the strong Indian batting.

Bresnan and co. were toothless in the death overs and were unable to make most of the early wickets. It was the same story in the batting department for England, as they were bundled out for just 174 inside fifty overs.
