West Indian seamers took full advantage of the moisture, to reduce hosts Sri Lanka to 84/3 at the end of play on the first day of the rain-hit second Test match at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first, after rain delayed the start of play. Sri Lanka made three changes to their line up. Nuwan Kulasekara, Rangana Herath and debutant Suranga Lakmal came in place of Thilan Thushara, Suraj Randiv and Dammika Prasad respectively. West Indies brought in Sulieman Benn in place of Andre Russell.

Kemar Roach struck first for the Windies when he clean bowled Tillekeratne Dilshan. Dilshan made just 4 runs. Roach then came back to remove Tharanga Paranavitana (16) to reduce Sri Lanka to 31/2. Skipper Darren Sammy too picked up Mahela Jayawardene (2) when the batsman dragged a delivery onto the stumps.

At close of play, Kumar Sangakkara was batting on 25 runs with Thilan Samaraweera on 26 runs. The duo have raised 50 runs for the fourth wicket and Sri Lanka would need one of these to bat through the innings.

For West Indies, Roach (2/24) and Sammy (1/25), who bowled 17 overs at a stretch, starred with the ball. Tomorrow would be an interesting day of play, unless the rain plays the spoilsport once again.
