Dashing opener VirenderSehwag, who was out of form recently, made a strong come back in the 4th ODI against West indies at Indore by breaking the record for the highest score in a one-day international, surpassing SachinTendulkar’s 200, setting it up to a new mark of 219.

The 33-year-old, who was dropped on 170, passed the mark with his 23rd four of the match and added two more before being dismissed. He also hit seven sixes.

Sehwag’s runs came off just 149 balls before he was caught by substitute fielder Anthony Martin off the bowling of Kieron Pollard in the 47th over.

SachinTendulkar got his 200 against South Africa at Gwalior in February 2010. Tendulkar had scored 200 not out off 147 balls to take India to 401/3 in that game.

Sehwag’s previous ODI best was 175 against Bangladesh in Dhaka in February. His remarkable innings also took him past the 8,000-run mark in ODIs.

This is Sehwag’s 15th ODI century and answers all the critics that have been blaming the top-order’s indifferent form and Sehwag’s bad captaincy for India’s 16 runs loss in 3rd ODI.
