Hosts Kolkata Knight Riders had an easy 8-wicket win over Kings XI Punjab at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Everything that KKR did went according to the script after they had won the toss and asked Kings XI Punjab to bat first on a square turning pitch. King XI Punjab never got going and in the first half were struggling around 53 for 4. They could just drag their total to 119 for 6 with Dinesh Karthik top scoring with a run-a-ball 42. Iqbal Abdulla, the left arm spinner bowled beautifully taking 2 for 19 in 4 overs for KKR.
The paltry target of 120 was achieved in 17.2 overs losing only 2 wickets by KKR with Skipper Gautam Gambhir scoring a solid unbeaten 45 from 44 balls while the in-form Manoj Tiwary scored 34 not out from 41 balls. Iqbal Abdulla got the Man of the Match.
