Post Rain Break Update : The match has been called off with the outfield being too wet for a restart and considering the fact that there is the England-Ireland match to be played here after few minutes. New Zealand have been declared as winners by 7 runs according to the D/L Method. They are into the Super Eights along with Sri Lanka from Group B.

New Zealand Innings Report

Rain has arrived at the Providence Stadium in Guyana to disrupt the Kiwi innings after 8.1 overs. New Zealand chasing a paltry target of 85 are 36 for 1 having lost Jesse Ryder to a top edged sweep. The Kiwis are five runs ahead according to the Duckworth/Lewis Method and should be declared the winners if there is no further play. Brendon McCullum is on 22 from 26 balls along with Martin Guptill (6 from 12 balls) when rain stopped play.

Zimbabwe Innings Report

Zimbabwe have been bundled out for a paltry 84 with their innings lasting just 15.1 overs on a slow turning wicket at the Providence Stadium. Nathan McCullum picked up three scalps, Daniel Vettori got two wickets while Scott Styris got three lucky wickets in a single over! Zimbabwe had collapsed after a decent start of 36 for no loss inside 5 overs! Openers Tatenda Taibu and Hamilton Masakadza scored 20s but the middle order spoilt the game totally!

The chase should be over pretty soon with New Zealand having a deadly opening combination of Brendon McCullum and Jesse Ryder.
