SURIYAWEWA: Sri Lanka and the West Indies have postponed their five-match limited-overs cricket series and a Twenty20 match citing bad weather.
Sri Lanka Cricket announced that the one-day series has been rescheduled for next year and is likely to get underway late January.
Most of an earlier three-Test series was disrupted by rain and ended in a 0-0 draw.
The first match of the limited-overs series was to scheduled be played later Thursday at the Sooriyawewa stadium, still under construction for next year's World Cup. However the series has been shrouded in doubt as team officials discussed late into Wednesday night whether to postpone the series.
According to local newspaper, The Island, the real reason for the postponement is because the West Indies team was unhappy with the facilities, particularly in the dressing room at the venue.
West Indies officials did not comment on the report. The tourists also played two Test matches in partially built venues.
