Aus Vs Eng 2nd Test Scores: Alastair Cook scored his consecutive hundred of the series to take England to 317/2 at close of play on the second day of the second Ashes test at the Adelaide Oval.

Alastair Cook scored his consecutive hundred of the series to take England to 317/2 at close of play on the second day of the second Ashes test at the Adelaide Oval.

The session entirely belonged to England in which the visitors scored 119 runs without losing any wicket. England are now comfortably placed 72 runs ahead of the Australians with still eight first innings wickets in hand. Cook and Kevin Pietersen both garnered runs at a healthy rate. Pietersen was, in particular, aggressive in scoring 13 boundaries in 85 runs and is all set to score his first Test hundred in 18 Test matches.

However, the highlight of the day was Cook’s innings who went on to score his second hundred of the series, taking his series tally to 438 runs in just three innings. His 136 not out includes 17 hits to the fence. The duo have till now put on 141 runs for the undefeated third wicket.

That the Australians were able to take only two wickets in the entire day’s play does no good to the host’s confidence. None of the bowlers could really make any impact, and both the wickets that they got were more due to batsman’s loss of concentration than some excellent bowling.
