Zimbabwe's limited-overs tour of Bangladesh got off to a poor start when they were beaten by 29 runs in their tour match by a Bangladesh Cricket Board XI in Savar.

BCB XI 223-9 (Saghir Hossain 49, Meth 4-46) beat
Zimbabweans 194 (Taibu 32) by 29 runs

Batting first, the home side made a score of 223 for nine and then successfully defended it by dismissing the Zimbabweans for 194 in reply.

Saghir Hossain (49), Asif Ahmed (46) and Fazle Mahmud (30) contributed with the bat and despite Keagan Meth taking four for 46, they had a winning score on the board.

Christopher Mpofu took three for 40 and while the majority of Zimbabwe's wickets came from their pace bowlers, the Bangladeshis then relied on their spinners to derail their opponents.

Leg-spinner Noor Hussain emerged as the pick of the bowlers as he returned three for 40, dismissing Chamu Chibhabha (24), Tatenda Taibu (32) and Elton Chigumbura (12).

Off-spinner Ahmed also grabbed two wickets to end an eighth-wicket stand of 53 between Meth (25) and Prosper Utseya (26) as Zimbabwe were bowled out in 46.1 overs.

The first of five One-Day Internationals between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe gets underway on 1st December.
