Five for Ashwin! It's turning out to be a dream debut for the offie. Darren Sammy had no chance on the quicker one that hardly bounced.

Putting aside talks of a mismatch, West Indies put up brave fight in the first Test at Delhi's Feroz Shah Kotla ground but couldn't prevent India from registering a comfortable victory by five wickets on the fourth day to take 1-0 lead.

The hosts came from behind after conceding a 95-run lead in the first innings, but then bowled out the visitors for a paltry 180 to limit the target to a manageable 276 on a fast-deteriorating Kotla pitch.

All-round performance by hosts India put them in the driver's seat at stumps on day three of the first Test against West Indies at Delhi's Feroz Shah Kotla ground, with SachinTendulkar and RahulDravid taking India to 152/2.

Dravid (30) and Tendulkar (33) put together an unbroken 57-run partnership after a quickfire 55 from VirenderSehwag laid the foundation to chase the 276-run target set by West Indies.

Six overs left and the West Indies are getting desperate for another breakthrough before close of play. On the other hand, Tendulkar and Dravid are in no hurry whatsoever with six more session left in which to get to 276. Sounds easy, but isn't really on this Kotla snake pit. India 136/2, 140 away from a win.

India picked up five West Indies wickets to pull back things in their favour and leave the visitors struggling at 109 for seven in their second innings at lunch on the third day of the first cricket Test at the FerozeshahKotla here Tuesday.

ShivnarineChanderpaul was batting on 39 and skipper Darren Sammy at eight after the morning session's play during which the West Indies lost five wickets but stretched their overall lead to 204 runs.

The West Indies made 304 in their first innings and bowled out India for 209.

Resuming at overnight 21/2, the West Indies lost their first wicket in the third over of the day after night-watchman Fidel Edwards (1) flashed at an away delivery from pacer Ishant Sharma and edged it to wicketkeeperMahendra Singh Dhoni.

An error in judgment from Kirk Edwards (33) gave debutant pacer UmeshYadav his maiden Test wicket. Edwards thought the ball was going out but Yadav angled it in, uprooting his off-stump.

The dismissal triggered a collapse as West Indies slumped from 53 for three to 84 for seven. Debutant off-spinner RavichandranAshwin struck twice in his fifth over of the day to remove Darren Bravo (12) and Marlon Samuels for a duck.

Yadav picked up his second wicket when wicketkeeper Carlton Baugh (7) went in for an ambitious drive but ended up edging it to the Indian skipper.
