The first ODI at Kochi has been abandoned after the ground got hit by another spell of showers which made things impossible for any play on an already drenched outfield. It was really sad to see the match end without even beginning with as many as 30,000 spectators in the stadium! The second of the three ODIs is on 20th in Visakhapatnam.
Update at 10:00 AM
Unfortunately, things are looking overcast at Kochi and there is a bit of drizzle which has forced the covers to return back on the outfield! There is a ground inspection scheduled for 11:00 AM but for things to get moving, the rain will have to stop completely!
Update at 9:00 AM
The start of the first ODI between India and Australia at Kochi has been delayed due to early morning showers at around 4:00 AM. The sharp shower which lasted about 30 minutes has left the ground wet and the covers have plenty of water. The ground has already been hit by persistent rain in the last few days. As things stand by at the scheduled start of 9:00 AM, the sun has come out and the groundstaff are working on drying up things. The match is expected to start only after 11:30 AM.
