Scotland will face Papua New Guinea in match number five of the T20 World Cup 2021 clash on Tuesday, October 19 at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground (Ministry Turf 1) in Al Amerat. The game will be played as part of Group B in the ICC event. The match will begin at 3:30 PM IST and 2:00 PM local time

Scotland got off to a memorable start in the T20 World Cup, getting the better of the fancied Bangladesh by putting up a clinical performance. Batting first, Scotland had crumbled to 53 for 6. However, Chris Greaves slammed a swift 45 off 28 while Mark Watt contributed 22 off 17 as the batting side recovered to post 140 for 9

Greaves had a big role to play with the ball as well. He sent back both the Bangladesh big batters, Shakib Al Hasan (20) and Mushfiqur Rahim (38). Bradley Wheal was the other hero for Scotland, finishing with excellent figures of 3 for 24. Josh Davey and Mark Watt also kept things tight as Bangladesh were not allowed to get away. Eventually, Scotland sneaked home by six runs.

Papua New Guinea did not have a memorable T20 World Cup debut. Their inexperience came to the fore as they were thumped by 10 wickets by Oman. Skipper Assad Vala (56) and Charles Amini (37) rescued Papua New Guinea from a disastrous start, which saw them lose both their openers without scoring.

At 81 for 2, PNG had laid the platform for a decent total, but the run out of Amini led to a stunning batting collapse. Eventually, they could only manage 129 for 9. The total proved hugely inefficient as Oman openers went berserk and chased down the target in 13.4 overs.
