India has named a 15-man squad for the two-match Test Series against West Indies. The Series which begins next month is mainly to accommodate farewell Tests for Sachin Tendulkar. The Selectors have ignored seniors like Sehwag, Gambhir, Harbhajan and Zaheer. Indications are that atleast Zaheer of the four is likely to be picked for the upcoming South Africa tour.

Banking on his one-day form, Rohit Sharma has forced his way into the Test Squad. He is yet to make his Test Debut though and stands a good chance in the place of Ajinkya Rahane. Missing out on selection was all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja who has been rested because of a shoulder strain. Pragyan Ojha and Amit Mishra are the two spinners apart from R Ashwin.

The Selectors seemed to have rewarded Mohammad Shami who has been impressive in the ODI Series against Australia. Fast bowler Umesh Yadav has been named in the squad and he returns from an injury. While Bhuvneshwar Kumar retained his place, the surprise selection is that of Ishant Sharma, despite an ordinary show in the ODI Series against Australia.

India Test Squad: MS Dhoni (Captain & Wicket Keeper), Shikhar Dhawan, M Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, R Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Pragyan Ojha, Amit Mishra, Ajinkya Rahane, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Rohit Sharma, Ishant Sharma
