Defending Champions England crashed out of the ongoing T20 World Cup after a 19-run defeat against hosts Sri Lanka at Pallekele. England in a must-win situation conceded a total of 169 on a pitch that was dry. It was expected that England would have a tough task with the bat against the quality spin attack of Sri Lanka but it was the homeside pacers who did the damage. Lasith Malinga pegged back England with three wickets in his first spell and then later on added two more wickets. As a result, England were restricted to 150 for 9.
