New Zealand Cricket has reacted to the latest story coming in a UK newspaper which suggests that some of its players were involved in match-fixing!

New Zealand Cricket has today rubbished a UK newspaper report, which suggests that some of its players were involved in match-fixing. The sensational story coming in a leading UK newspaper – ‘Sunday Times’ claims that an Indian bookie had boasted of working with some of the New Zealand players to fix matches.

The Chief Executive of the New Zealand Cricket Board – David White has stated that the allegations on the Kiwi players were totally false and far from being credible. Also rubbishing the story was Heath Mills, the Chief Executive of the New Zealand Cricket Player’s Association. Heath Mills says that he doesn’t believe that anybody (New Zealand cricketer) he has worked with has anything to do in fixing matches. However, Mills says that the cricketers are bound to come into contact with people of ill repute whenever they play in the sub-continent.

It’s not just this latest story that has allegations on New Zealand Cricketers getting involved in match fixing. There is already a libel case going on in the London High Court, which involves former New Zealand all-rounder Chris Cairns. The former Cricketer went to court to sue Lalit Modi, the former IPL Chairman who had tweeted that Cairns was involved in match fixing in the Indian Cricket League games.
