Rain had the last laugh in the only ODI played between hosts Ireland and Australia at the Civil Service Cricket Club in Stormont, Belfast.
Just the 10.4 overs were possible before the rain in which Ireland, asked to bat first after losing the toss, struggled to 36 for 3. Brett Lee struck early in the first over removing Ireland Skipper William Porterfield and former England international Ed Joyce for ducks.
Teenage fast bowler Pat Cummins, who returned to the Australian team after a long lay-off, got the wicket of talented opener Paul Stirling (24 from 27 balls) in a three over spell.
