It will be the battle of the top and bottom ranked teams in Match 33 of IPL 2021 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Wednesday, September 22. Delhi Capitals (DC), who are at number two in the points table will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), who are placed last

DC won six of their eight matches in the first half of IPL 2021 in India. CSK are above them in the points table only on the basis of a superior net run rate. DC missed the services of regular captain Shreyas Iyer in the first half, who was ruled out due to shoulder injury. He is back and fit now although Rishabh Pant will continue to lead the side in the UAE leg. Ravichandran Ashwin is also back, after quitting the first half due to COVID in his family

SRH were struck a big blow as their main run-scorer in the first half, Jonny Bairstow, pulled out of the remainder of IPL 2021. Sunrisers have brought in Sherfane Rutherford, who looked in good touch in CPL 2021 as Bairstow’s replacement. As Rashid Khan rightly said in a recent interview, SRH will have to treat each game in the second half as a final.

DC’s playing XI is pretty much settled but for a few players here and there. Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan will open. Shreyas Iyer should bat at three. DC might have to pick one from Steven Smith and Shimron Hetmyer. In the first half, Kagiso Rabada and Avesh Khan were the main pacers. DC can look to fit in Anrich Nortje, who was brilliant in the UAE last season.

DC’s predicted XI: Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Shimron Hetmyer, Rishabh Pant (C & wk), Marcus Stoinis, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Avesh Khan

For SRH, Warner should be back at the top of the order with Bairstow missing. Wriddhiman Saha should open with him as he has tasted success at that position. SRH will have to pick one from Mohammad Nabi, Sherfane Rutherford and Jason Holder for the fourth overseas slot with Rashid Khan being indispensable.

SRH’spredictedXI: David Warner, Kane Williamson (C), Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Manish Pandey, Vijay Shankar, Jason Holder, Abdul Samad, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed
