Sri Lanka go into the clash as favorites. Despite not being the force they once were in international cricket, the Lankans are a lot more experienced and versatile than Namibia. Their talent was evident in the warm-up games as they won both their matches.
The first match was a close game against Bangladesh. The Lankans bowled first and restricted the opposition to 147 for 7, Dushmantha Chameera claiming 3 for 27. Sri Lanka won the game by four wickets as Avishka Fernando remained unbeaten on 62 and Chamika Karunaratne on a quickfire 29
The second warm-up saw they posting 162 for 5 against Papua New Guinea. Pathum Nissanka top-scored with 76 while Fernando blasted 61 off 37. Sri Lanka eased to victory by 39 runs as Papua New Guinea managed only 123 for 7 in response.
Namibia lost both their practice games. They failed to chase 153 against Oman, and were restricted to 120 for 9. Scotland hammered their bowling attack for 203. Craig Williams’ 80 saw Namibia post a credible 184 for 5. Despite the loss, they would have got some boost.
