Kane Williamson well paced half century helped Northern Knights to a 7-wicket win over Southern Express in the first Qualifying match of CLT20 at Raipur. Williamson scored 52 from 29 balls as the Knights chased down a stiff target of 93 with three balls to spare. The New Zealand star batsman struck 7 fours and a six.
Early on, Southern Express spoilt a blazing start of 55 in 6 overs to finish with 92 for 5. Opener Kusal Perera scored 37 from 20 balls with 7 fours while his opening partner Danushka Gunathilaka was the top scorer of the innings with 39 from 26 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes.
Match Update at 5:40 pm IST: Finally some good news from Raipur and it is that this match is going to get underway at 6 pm. The match has been reduced to a 10-over contest.
Match Update at 4:30 pm IST: The next inspection has been pushed to 5:00 pm which means that the outfield is still wet.
Rain Update at 3:45 pm IST: The first match of the Qualifying round between New Zealand’s Northern Districts and Sri Lanka’s Southern Express at Raipur has been delayed due to wet outfield. An inspection will be held at 4:15 pm with the outfield still a touch soggy. We are likely to have a reduced contest as this same venue has to accommodate another match tonight at 8 pm.
