Former Selector Mohinder Amarnath has revealed the name of the person who overruled the Selection Committee’s decision of sacking MS Dhoni from the Test Team in an interview with CNN-IBN Channel this morning. As expected the force behind MS Dhoni was none other than N Srinivasan, the current BCCI President. N Srinivasan apparently is the Managing Director of India Cements, the company which owns the Chennai Super Kings franchise in the IPL with MS Dhoni as the Captain.
Amarnath had come on Times Now Channel yesterday to make the explosive revelations about MS Dhoni. The former all-rounder is reported to have said that the Selectors had picked a 17-man squad without selecting the Captain for the Commonwealth Bank Tri-Series which was played after the disastrous Test Series in Australia. The Selectors could not have their way because of the intervention of N Srinivasan, the BCCI Chief according to Amarnath’s confession. Srinivasan had used his veto power to overrule the unanimous decision taken by the five Selectors.
Interestingly, the Selectors had originally picked Virat Kohli as the ODI Captain for the Tri Series held in February last year and were looking to have Sehwag lead the team in Test Cricket. On asked whether he would change his opinion on Dhoni if he goes onto score a century in the Nagpur Test, Amarnath said he wouldn’t and thinks that the former is not good enough to merit a place in the Test team. On who should be the Captain if Dhoni was to be dropped from the Test Team, Amarnath suggested the name of Gautam Gambhir as he was a frontline batsman with the necessary temperament.
