In the rain-affected match, CSK batting first piled up 148 for 3 in 17 overs on what was a square turning pitch. Brendon McCullum batted exceedingly well to score 56 from 40 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Suresh Raina scored 31 from 25 balls while Skipper MS Dhoni scored 22* from 17 balls.

Ravindra Jadeja who chipped in with 17* from 10 balls destroyed KKR in their run chase with his left-arm spin. KKR were in total disarray at 38 for 4 in 5.2 overs after which a CSK victory was a mere formality.

Robin Uthappa with 47 from 38 balls and Yusuf Pathan with 41 from 29 balls with 4 fours played fighting knocks. However, they could only reduce the margin of defeat for KKR who ended up with 114 for 9 in 17 overs.
