The second half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 has not begun on a bright note for Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Both teams have tasted defeats in the two matches they have played in the UAE so far this season. At least one team will have broken the short losing streak after Sunday’s encounter between the two teams in Dubai, which will see Rohit Sharma take on Virat Kohli.

After being undone clinically by Chennai Super Kings, MI also went down to KKR, a team against which they had a 22-6 record before the game, rather tamely. MI’s batting has been lethargic so far and they are missing some form in the middle as well. Of course, their bowling hasn’t inspired, allowing CSK to recover from 24 for 4.

RCB were completely shambolic in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). They were literally blown away, getting out for 92. After that, the KKR openers trampled them. Virat Kohli’s men would be more disappointed with their defeat against CSK though. They reached 110 without loss from where they could have launched themselves but instead crash-landed.

In the updated IPL 2021 points table, RCB are still in the top three, with five wins from nine games. MI have slipped down to sixth position, with only four wins in nine games

RCB kept out Kyle Jamieson in the last game but the move did not work any wonders for them. Will they stick to Tim David or bring back Jamieson? Shahbaz Ahmed could come in for Navdeep Saini given his all-round ability.

RCB’s predicted XI: Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli (C), AB de Villiers, Glenn Maxwell, Srikar Bharat (wk) Kyle Jamieson/Tim David, Harshal Patel, Shahbaz Ahmed, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal

MI’s middle-order has not performed to potential but expect them to back both Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan. Hardik Pandya should walk in for Saurabh Tiwary, provided he is fit

MI’s predicted XI: Quinton de Kock (wk), Rohit Sharma (C), Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Hardik Pandya/Saurabh Tiwary, Adam Milne, Rahul Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah Trent Boult

Top fantasy picks for RCB vs MI: AB de Villiers, Devdutt Padikkal, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, Quinton de Kock, Rohit Sharma
