African minnows Zimbabwe will be hosting a short Triangular Series next month. It is going to be a rare Twenty20 Triangular Tournament featuring the hosts along with South Africa and Bangladesh. The tri-series will consist of six matches and a final with each side playing the other twice in the league stage.
What is ironic about this series is that it’s going to be an unofficial one with no recognition from the ICC! Hence the matches will all be unofficial Twenty20 affairs which will not be recorded in the International Statistics of the players and the teams! Another pity of this series is that there will be no broadcast of the matches on any of the TV Channels! Perhaps, the Series could well be played without a TV or a Third Umpire as well. This Series is more of a warm-up for the three teams prior to the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup in Sri Lanka.
The Triangular Twenty20 Series will begin on the 18th of June and will wind up on the 24th with all the seven matches to be played at the Harare Sports Club.
Following is the Schedule of the Zimbabwe Twenty20 Triangular Series 2012:
