Pune Warriors won the battle of the last two spots in IPL 6 by beating the Delhi Daredevils by 38 runs to finish in the penultimate position. It was a strong batting show from the hosts Pune as they piled up 172 for 5. Delhi in reply were kept down to 134 for 9.

Pune once again had its opening batsmen – Uthappa (24 from 20 balls) and Finch (52 from 34 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes) coming good. Angelo Mathews with 30 from 22 balls and Luke Wright with 44 from 23 balls provided the ideal finishing. For the Delhi Daredevils, left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem bowled well for his 1 for 21 in 4 overs.

The run chase for the Delhi Daredevils was quickly derailed with Warner, Jayawardene and Sehwag falling cheaply. There was absolutely no fight from the Daredevils and a couple of knocks – 24 from 28 balls by Irfan Pathan and 30 from 23 balls from CM Gautam could only delay the inevitable defeat and also in bringing down the margin of defeat.

Left-arm spinner Ali Murtaza bowled a brilliant spell of 4-0-15-3 while Angelo Mathews helped himself with 3 for 14. The Man of the Match was given to Luke Wright.
