Bangladesh simply didn’t pose any challenge to the Indians although their start was slightly aggressive. However, the fourth over of their innings saw Tamim Iqbal and Shamshur Rahman depart in consecutive deliveries to R Ashwin’s off breaks. Bhuvneshwar Kumar came back for a second spell to have Shakib Al Hasan bowled through the gate to have the Tigers at 21 for 3 in 4.1 overs.

Mohammed Shami in the 11th over broke a 46-run stand to have Bangladesh Captain Mushfiqur Rahim (24 from 21 balls) caught at mid wicket. Opener Anamul Haque who was batting so well, departed two overs later, bowled by a googly from Amit Mishra which got him playing a cut shot. Anamul scored 44 (from 43 balls) out of the 82 runs that the hosts had scored when his wicket fell down.

A late burst from Mahmudullah (33 from 23 balls) helped the homeside to a modest total of 138 for 7. R Ashwin bowled outstandingly for his 2 for 15 in 4 overs while Amit Mishra bagged 3 for 26 in his 4 overs.

India coasted to an 8-wicket win with nine balls to spare. Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 57 from 50 balls and Rohit Sharma got out for a 44-ball 56. MS Dhoni promoted himself to get into some touch with an unbeaten 22 from 12 balls.

Toss and Teams: India have won the toss and asked Bangladesh to bat first in the Group 2 match at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. The Indian team is unchanged while Bangladesh have made two changes with Shamshur Rahman and Nasir Hossain coming in for Mominul Haque and Sabbir Rahman.
