Virat Kohli was elated after India won the first ODI at Durban against South Africa following yet another ton in a chase by him.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Kohli said: "It was quite special as winning the first match of the series is always crucial. We wanted to take the momentum of the Test win and when we restricted South Africa to 269 on this sort of a pitch, we were happy.”

He added, "Thereafter, we wanted one good partnership and Jinks (Ajinkya Rahane) came to the fore. Am very happy for Jinx. He is a top-class player. We understood fast bowling was going to be a big factor in this tour. So, in that respect, Jinks was superb as he took on the fast bowlers."

On his own innings, Kohli said, "It is easier to break down the total when you have a number on the board. As far as I'm concerned, I like to understand the game. I had never scored an ODI hundred in South Africa. Thus, the celebrations.”
