India’s stand-in Captain for the just concluded Fourth and Final Test at Adelaide – Virender Sehwag dismissed yesterday’s breaking news about Rahul Dravid’s possible retirement! Sehwag in the press conference after the conclusion of the Adelaide Test which India lost by 298 runs told “"I'll clarify that I don't think there is the need for retirement from anybody in this team,". Now whether it is Sehwag’s opinion or the decision of players like Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman remains to be seen! India was whitewashed 0-4 in the Vodafone Test Series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2011/12.

Virender SehwagVirender Sehwag also told reporters "And they'll take the call when they need it. And when they think that their time is up" referring clearly to the three seniors – Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Sachin Tendulkar. Rahul Dravid is also believed to have told one of the broadcasters of the series down under that he is not going to make any decision now on the retirement and will take it one series at a time.

India too doesn’t play Test Cricket for the next 8-9 months. This means that the likes of Dravid, Laman and may be even Sachin Tendulkar will let know the fans of their decision well in advance so that the BCCI arranges for a farewell Series the next time India plays Test Cricket back home!
