Match winning opener Virender Sehwag has been surprisingly dropped from the Indian team for the remaining two Tests against the Aussies. India have not named any replacement for Sehwag and have trimmed their squad to 15 players. This means that Delhi left-hander Shikhar Dhawan stands a fair chance of making his Test Debut at Mohali. However, the Indian squad also has Mumbai’s top order batsman Ajinkya Rahane who has been waiting a long long time in the fringes trying to break into the playing XI.
The Selectors have kept their faith in veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh who has had a very ordinary series so far. So Sehwag is the only man to face the axe despite India’s two big wins. The dashing opener hasn’t fired off late barring one century against England at Ahmedabad.
India Squad for last two Tests: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Captain and Wicket Keeper), Sachin Tendulkar, Murali Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Harbhajan Singh, Pragyan Ojha, Ishant Sharma, Ashok Dinda, Bhuvneshwar Kumar
