Michael Clarke, the Australian Captain who had missed out in the fourth and final Test against India at Delhi has ruled himself out of the upcoming IPL 6. Clarke has suffered a recurring back injury and a hamstring injury which will keep him out of action for 7-10 weeks.
The Australian Captain has been advised by Cricket Australia to pull out of the IPL so that he gets ready for the upcoming Ashes Series in July this year.
The Australian Captain was appointed as the Skipper of the Pune Warriors for IPL 6. Clarke was offered around 2 million USD for that job which he will now miss because of a lower back injury. And now that he is ruled out, the Pune Warriors will have to search for a new leader. Last season, the Warriors were led by Sourav Ganguly who has retired from the IPL this year.
Yuvraj Singh is the other star player who could be named as the Captain of Pune Warriors. However, there are reports that Yuvraj who had led Kings XI Punjab before in the IPL is reluctant to captain the Warriors. The other option that Pune Warriors India have is Angelo Mathews who recently has taken over the Sri Lankan captaincy from Mahela Jayawardene. It will not be a surprise if PWI name Mathews as their new Captain for IPL 6.
